AMECO was founded in 1947 as a part of Daniel Construction, a U.S. regional construction company and general contractor. "The Warehouse," built in the late 1960's, was the company's original location in Greenville, South Carolina. It was used to store Daniel's equipment between construction jobs.

First incorporated in 1971, AMECO began to focus on providing a comprehensive package of services to support construction projects.

In 1977, Fluor Corporation acquired Daniel Construction. Several years later, FluorPort, an internal equipment division of Fluor, merged with AMECO.

In 1987, AMECO expanded geographically and began its domestic growth by providing rental, sales and aftermarket services to a broad range of construction and industrial clients. It also stepped up efforts aimed at marketing integrated services, including construction support and fleet management.

Two years later, AMECO took on a much larger geography by following its parent, Fluor, into the global marketplace. After establishing roots, the company expanded its international operations to serve a wider variety of clients. In 2003, AMECO also assumed responsibility for AfriTool, a South African based equipment and tool supplier.

Today, AMECO delivers integrated equipment and tool solutions to industries around the world.
